📺 The Content Strategy That Isn't Working

What's up guys, back for another DoF entry. This week got a little meta: I spent most of it working ON my content instead of just making it.
Here's the uncomfortable part: I've been pouring real time (1.5 years) and real money ($50K+) into YouTube for a couple years now, and in terms of straight ROI…it hasn't paid off. Not even close.

I could've just kept grinding and hoped it turns around. BUT....there's a framework I keep coming back to that I learned somewhere: there are four types of leverage, capital, code, people, and media.

Media is the scary one. You make something once and it either compounds for years or it just sits there.

So I recently killed something and rebuilt something. I shut down a podcast I ran for 5 years and 200 episodes because it started feeling like a chore. And I relaunched it (including the newsletter you're reading right now) under a new name (yes, I'm aware of how weird it is to write about relaunching a newsletter inside the newsletter).

I get into the full reasoning, and why I'm making a multi-year bet I can't prove works yet, in this week's DoF vlog. Check it out below.

📹 Diary of a Franchisor Ep. 11: Betting on Content

Is what I’m working on what I should be working on? Is this the best place I should be putting in my effort?

As entrepreneurs we are always auditing ourselves questions like these. One of my answers to these questions related to what I’m doing with content is leverage. Check out what I mention starting at 4:04 to hear me elaborate on this a bit more.

MAIDTHIS BIG WINS
🥇 Winning with Meta Ads

One of our franchisees recently added Meta ads to their marketing portfolio and they’ve seen some great results already. While most of these leads are tied to a lower-priced attraction offer, quite a few are looking at recurring services.

THINGS I’M LIKING RN
🧑‍💻 Becoming 10% More Productive

I spent the last week setting up Obsidian + Claude Code….basically trying to make myself 10% more productive. TBD on if this actually impacts my productivity, but at least I feel like a cool hacker doing this tech stuff.
